The Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club NJ made a donation of $1,500 to the The West Essex YMCA in support of their Safety Around Water program. The West Essex YMCA is committed keeping children safe in and around water by continuing its free Safety Around Water program.  Two children die every day as a result of drowning.  It is the leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 4 and the second leading cause of death for children ages 5 to 14.  As an organization dedicated to building safe and healthy communities, the YMCA believes all children deserve the opportunity to learn to swim.  Each of the five classes will include swimming technique and water safety skills practice.  We also discuss safety topics like ‘reach, throw, don’t go,’ calling 911, and asking permission.  We encourage adults and parents to participate because It’s never too late to learn to swim!  We love seeing entire families having fun making themselves safer and healthier together!   If you don’t have access to swim lessons, whatever your circumstances are, please come to the YMCA!  It is our mission to help your family stay safe and develop a love of water.  –Scott Weber, Aquatic Director
